There is no denying it, fall is in the air! For our nature walk today, we went to the east side of our field and made leaf rubbings with the fallen leaves. The children needed to make at least 5 rubbings, and were to switch crayon colours each time. The finished art pieces are beautiful and will be displayed in our classroom.

Thank you to Abby's family (morning class) and Lane's family (afternoon class) for making us play dough this month!
Happy International Peace Day! We celebrated this day by reading Todd Parr's "The Peace Book" and discussing what peace means and what we find peaceful. The children drew peace drawings (which you will find in your child's portfolio at Student Led Conferences). Here are our ideas about peace: Morning Class Peace is...
Afternoon Class Peace is...
Some of the children have requested that I post the link to Go Noodle. This is the website we usually use for our daily 'muscle break'. We talk about our bodies being "too slow" (ex. tired), 'too fast" (ex. hyper, excited, angry) , and getting to to "just right, ready to learn". We use exercise to get us to this state.
Here is the website: www.gonoodle.com You can create an account and the best part, it's free. Happy dancing! Today the children explored some of the manipulatives we will be using throughout the year to learn about math concepts. Stations is something we do once a week; there are different "must-do" activities the children rotate through for a certain amount of time. These are different than our free-choice center time and allow the adults in the room to work with a small group of students. If parents would like to volunteer, stations is an activity that I like to plan for when they are here so the children get more focused adult help and attention. |
